Modernizing a Vertical boring machine
Apart for the geometric, mechancal and CNC upgrading of the machine, we can also equip your existing VTL with a new ram featuring a built-in live spindle. Depending on the size of the machine, the ram stroke can be increased to a maximum of 2.25 meters and the live spindle can be equipped with a 30 kW motor. To fully utilize the live spindle feature, the table should be upgraded to a full C-axis or at least a positioning axis, which we do my means of adding a double pinion drive or a simpler hydraulic clamping system on the perimeter of the table for positioning capability only. Position feedback is by means of a rotary encoder installed in the centre of the table or a precision tape installed on the perimeter of the table.
